JFL v DHS, ICE and CBP (Mobile Fortify)

On June 17, 2026, Just Futures Law filed a case under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to compel DHS, ICE, and CBP to produce documents related to a new AI smartphone app called Mobile Fortify. Mobile Fortify enables ICE agents to conduct biometric face scans and contactless fingerprint scans on their government-issued smartphones; compare the scans with more than 200 million images and associated data in backend databases; and store the data captured in the app for up to 15 years. JFL's lawsuit seeks to address the public's urgent need for information regarding the purpose, risks, and use of Mobile Fortify.
